🔥MOTOGP NEWS: Pedro Acosta officially spoke out about the serious car accident of KTM at GP Misano 2025 that caused the Spanish racer to lose his position regrettably. This racer’s car even fell off the chain right from the first laps of the race.
Pedro Acosta, a promising young rider for KTM, has just shared his sincere feelings after the 2025 Misano GP – where he had to regrettably leave the race due to a “chain drop” (or more accurately, a broken chain) incident right at the beginning of the race. This incident not only disappointed Acosta but also raised many questions about the reliability of the RC16 he is using this season.
In the post-race interview, Acosta made it clear: “This is a mechanical part, so these types of errors can happen, but I really did not expect it to happen in such good conditions today.” He added that he felt very sad because he had started the race very well, had a stable performance after the mid-season break, and he was completely in a position to compete with Álex Márquez if not for the technical incident “disrupting the game”.
According to Misano, Acosta was in fourth place before the incident and was on a good pace, beating most of the pack. However, after just a few laps, his chain “betrayed” Pedro Acosta, forcing him to retire from the race.
He also admitted that his reaction of dropping his bike and making gestures of frustration was understandable: “I think that’s a normal reaction at that time, because you feel bad.” Acosta stressed that since the summer break, he has found better form, and Misano was one of the opportunities to prove that KTM could be even more competitive if not for these types of incidents.
Another notable point is that Acosta said that in the past year and a half, he had never had a chain problem like this, so it was even more regrettable that the incident happened at a race where he felt everything was going well. In terms of technical specifications, he said that although the medium tyre was affected by the temperature, the bike still had good speed overall.
Regarding the response from KTM, Acosta not only wants to find out the cause of the incident, but also wants to make sure that the team learns from the experience to avoid a repeat. He expects the team to look at the data to understand why the chain mechanism failed, in a situation where the bike was running normally, and to clarify whether it was due to a maintenance or design error, or just a random incident due to wear and tear or operating conditions.
Despite the disappointment, Acosta remains positive, saying that the Misano GP still showed him his competitive potential: “The bike may not have led to a podium this time, but if everything is perfect, I can catch Álex Márquez and make the race more intense.”
The Misano incident has once again confirmed that in MotoGP, speed alone is not enough — reliability and consistency are the deciding factors. Given Acosta’s ambition and KTM’s resources, the public and fans will be watching closely to see if the Austrian team can address these mechanical weaknesses before the 2025 season reaches its final stages. Misano could be a wake-up call for KTM to upgrade its powertrain and component quality, or else pay dearly for seemingly minor problems like a broken chain.
