At the 2025 Laver Cup in the United States, Carlos Alcaraz will take part, while Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner are absent. Still, the showdown between Team Europe and Team World promises to be thrilling.

The prestigious men’s team tennis competition will take place from September 19 to 21 at the Chase Center in San Francisco. This is the 8th edition of the event since its debut in 2017, bringing fans intense battles between Europe’s finest and the world’s best.
This year’s tournament has lost some of its star power, as both Djokovic and Sinner have withdrawn. The two global superstars opted to take time off to rest and recover ahead of the Asian swing in late September.

World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz will lead Team Europe, joined by Alexander Zverev, Holger Rune, Casper Ruud, rising star Jakub Mensik, and Flavio Cobolli.
Team World features a strong lineup as well, with Taylor Fritz, Alex de Minaur, Francisco Cerundolo, Joao Fonseca, Alex Michelsen, and big-serving Reilly Opelka.
Coaching changes also mark this year’s edition: French legend Yannick Noah replaces Bjorn Borg as captain of Team Europe, while American icon Andre Agassi takes over from John McEnroe to lead Team World.

Since its inception in 2017, the Laver Cup has been held in Prague, Chicago, Geneva, Boston, London, Vancouver, and Berlin. In 2024 in Berlin, Team Europe edged Team World 13–11, with Alcaraz defeating Fritz in the deciding match, securing Europe’s first title in three years and ending Team World’s dominance from 2022–2023.
The format remains unchanged: the three-day event features a total of 12 matches (four per day), with points increasing as the competition progresses. Victories on September 19 are worth 1 point, on September 20 2 points, and on September 21 3 points. The first team to reach 13 points wins the trophy. If the score is tied after 12 matches, a decisive doubles clash will determine the champion.
